These types of errors are generally caused by an incorrect dialup number configured in your dialup settings. Check your dialup number and try the connection again.
Note: If you have an HP Pavillion with a Lucent Winmodem, use the init string AT&F&C1&D2&K3+MS=V34. See this HP article for more information.

- Open the Control Panel. Click the Network and Internet Connections option, then choose Network Connections. Note If the Control Panel is in Classic View, double click the Network Connections icon.
